Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed the police officers to perform their duties nicely, judiciously and diligently by keeping themselves above from all sorts of fear, influence and greed.
He was addressing the meeting of newly promoted DSPs at CPO here today. Addl. IG Punjab Israr Ahmad and DIG Headquarters Rai Altaf Hussain were also present on the occasion. The IG advised the newly promoted 108 DSPs to improve the image of police department by exhibiting their best professional capabilities for ensuring quick relief to the people and elimination of terrorism and crime in the province.
The IG maintained that the whole hearted commitment and precious sacrifices of officers/officials of Punjab Police in combating against the recent wave of terrorism have helped a lot in bridging the gap between the people and police department. He stressed upon the police officers/officials to deal nicely and respectfully with the citizens visiting police offices / police stations and ensure quick redressal of their grievances instead of keeping them in awaiting so that the of public’s opinion regarding the police could be favourably changed.
The IG said that the responsibilities of police were very sacred and we can achieve the happiness of Almighty Allah and people by performing these efficiently. He directed the DSPs to play an effective role in the holy war launched against the extremism and crime mafia for coming up to the expectations of the government and people. He also advised that by regular inspection of police stations, prompt registration of cases and merit oriented investigations and non apprehension of innocent citizens we can achieve the blessings of Almighty Allah as well as people’s confidence which are highly essential for eradication of the roots of curse of crime and terrorism from the society.
The IG further said that no doubt like other organizations there were also some good and negative points in the police department however, I will like to appeal the general masses for pinpointing the corrupt elements in the police force so that severe disciplinary action could be taken against them. The IG said that it was heartening to note that in the course of combating against the terrorism, the people have fully cooperated with the police by providing useful information to the police which has helped a lot in curbing the menace of terrorism.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has urged the field police officers that they should direct the SHOs of their respective areas to keep a vigil eye on the criminals/terrorists by adopting effective detective foot constable/beat system and close liaison with the members of mohalla committees.
He was addressing the meeting of police officers of Rawalpindi Region today. The meeting was attended by Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Mohammad Aslam Tareen, City Police Officer Rao Muhammad Iqbal, SSP Operations Yasin Farooq, City Traffic Officer Dr. Akthar Abbas and other concerned police officeres. The meeting reviewed in detail the condition of law & order and crime situation in the region. RPO Rawalpindi Muhammad Aslam Tareen briefed the IG about the measures taken for the prevention of extremism and crime in the region.
The IG, while appreciating better security arrangements made by the Rawalpindi Police during the Moharram-ul-Haram, maintained that professional competence, honesty and love for mankind were the pre-requisites for successful policing by dint of which we can effectively deal with the present security challenges and thus achieve the confidence of the people. The IG further directed the police officers to take personal interest in improvement of patrolling system. He emphasized the need for ensuring transparent and merit oriented investigation and quickening the process of investigation. The challans free from legal flaws should be timely submitted in the courts so that suitable punishments be awarded to the accused, he added. The IG also said that the police officers/officials found indulged in misbehaving with the public, negligence of duty and abuse of power would not be tolerated and severe disciplinary action will be taken against them.
