Pakistan Automated Finger Print Identification System (PAFIS)

    Introduction

    The project is operational in Police Headquarters (PHQ), Punjab in addition to one Multi-functional Work Station (MFWS) and one Remote Terminal Site (RTS) at Data Center of PHQ, Lahore. This is connected in 23 districts (Attock, Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Kasur, D.G. Khan, Sahiwal, Narowal, Mianwali, Gujrat, Sialkot, Rajanpur, Okara, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Vehari, Sheikhupura, Multan, Jhang, Bhakar) Via-Satellite Technology.

    Remaining 13 districts (Bahawalnagar, Nankana, Hafizabad, Muzafargarh, Jhelum, T.T. Singh, Khushab, Layyah, Chakwal, Lodhran, Pakpattan, Chiniot, M.B. Din) would be covered in Phase-II.

    Objectives

    • Capacity Building to combat organized crime and terrorism
    • Infrastructure and networking for instant identification of criminals through fingerprints
    • Provide database sharing facility
    • Provide training to fingerprint technicians

    Capabilities

    Cross matching & processing of latent prints lifted from crime scene and search of finger prints of accused/suspects has been made possible with the help of this software.

    PAFIS Training

    139 police officers of 23 districts have been trained. 5 officers have been trained from Finger Print Bureau for Latent Print Processing in PHQ and 130 Scenes of Crime Officers have been trained & attached with district's 15 emergency centers/crime scene units.
