Robbery Gang Busted

FAISALABAD: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested 10 members of a robbery gang. recovered stolen goods worth millions of rupees.
 
City Police Officer (CPO) Sohail Habib Tajak told a press conference that the men were wanted in 50 robbery and murder cases. He said Saddar Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Asim and Iqbal Town Superintendent Police (SP) Zulfiqar Ahmad raided a house late on Tuesday night and arrested them.
 
He said Mohsin, the leader of the gang, had also been arrested. He said the men had confessed to 52 crimes in Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Lahore and Kasur.
 
He said they had robbed the house of a head constable and shot dead a guard at Jaranwala. The CPO said various cases against the men had been registered at Khurrianwala, Saddar, Madina Town and Chattiana.
 
He said Rs100,000, a laptop, gold jewellery, a car, a Kalashnikov, a pump action and four pistols had been seized from their possession.
 
He said Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhera announced commendation certificates for the police team that conducted the raid.
