Foolproof security for Chinese workers

LAHORE : Lahore DIG (Operations) Haider Ashraf has ordered the field police officers to ensure foolproof security for the Chinese nationals, who are working on various development projects in the province.
 
The DIG has also directed the police to fully follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) devised for the security of foreign nationals particularly Chinese workers.
 
According to a police spokesperson, DIG Haider Ashraf issued these directions while presiding over a crime-control meeting at the police headquarters on Wednesday.
 
SP Iqbal Town police division Zahid Nawaz Marwat and all the circle officers and station house officers were also present in the meeting.
 
While addressing the meeting, the DIG underlined that crime cannot be controlled sans effective armed patrolling and proper checking in the provincial metropolis.
 
The operations police chief also ordered the field officers to ensure snap-checking by stetting up frequent and surprise police pickets to intercept the movement of criminals and suspected elements in Lahore.
 
Haider Ashraf also took serious notice of a sudden rise in robberies and directed the officers to implement a crime fighting strategy in the crime-prone areas.
 
The DIG reviewed the crimes and law and order situation in Sadar police division and issued show-cause notices to the station house officers of Nawab Town, Green Town, Hanjarwal, and Johar Town police stations.
 
The ASP of Chuhng Police Circle has also been ordered to explain in person why they are unable to control crimes in their jurisdiction.
