Martyred cop’s heirs get ‘giant’ compensation

RAWALPINDI - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Umar Akhter Hayat Lalayka handed over a compensation cheque to the heirs of a martyred constable during a ceremony here at his office on Wednesday.
 
Lalayka gave cheque worth Rs 50,000 to heirs of Amman Ullah Khan, a police constable who died in a bomb explosion here at Chitti Hattian area.
 
The RPO addressing the ceremony said that police and other law-enforcement agencies are in a state of war. He said that the police were coping with menace of terrorism despite having limited resources.
 
“The prime duty of police is to protect the lives and property of public, and personnel of Rawalpindi police have always rendered sacrifices for protecting the people,” Lalayka added. He said that police were ready to tackle any kind of security threat and added, “We will not hesitate to sacrifice our lives to protect our beloved homeland.
