Taxila police bust criminal gang from Peshawar

RAWALPINDI: The Taxila police claimed to have arrested five members of a criminal gang and recovered explosive material being carried in a stolen vehicle on Wednesday, according to a police spokesperson.
 
A police team intercepted a suspicious van at Taxila Bypass during routine patrolling and recovered 10 detonators, 20 cartridges and 20-feet-long cables used for detonators. The five arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Aurangzeb, Muhammad Asif, Ghulam Rasool, Amjad Ali and Mir Janat Shah.
 
The police said explosive material was seized and cases under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and 4/5 of the Explosives Act was registered against them. Later, the men were produced before a local court and sent to Adaila Jail on judicial remand.
 
SHO Taxila police Malik Sajid said his team busted the gang during routine patrolling. He explained that the vehicle was stolen from Lahore and a case was registered in the Green Town Lahore Police Station. “The gang belongs to Peshawar and was involved in more than 150 criminal activities and committed 39 dacoities in Taxila,” he claimed.
