Police to crack down on vehicle thefts

LAHORE: Punjab police has decided to initiate a strict crackdown across the province against those who are involved in vehicles and motorcycles theft including the sellers and buyers.
 
This was decided in an RPO conference held at the Central Police Office on Thursday. Punjab Inspector General Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera chaired the conference while other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
 
The conference also decided to complete the inspection process of weapons in all police stations and field offices by the end of April 10, so that all obsolete and outdated weapons could be discarded.
 
The conference also reviewed in detail the crime situation of the province from January to February and decided to focus on the rapid response, random patrolling, and proactive approach for achieving 100% results in crime controlling.
 
A strategy was devised in the conference to start a serious crackdown in the province to arrest hardcore criminals. It was also decided that the coordination could be enhanced between the Punjab Highway Police and Punjab Police to achieve the target in this regard.
 
The IG also directed the field officers to distribute the awards and certificates among those officials who discharge their duties efficiently during the crackdown.
 
Sukhera also briefed that during last 15 days, the PHP has arrested 51 POs, impounded 15,539 motorcycles and recovered 28 weapons from various criminals. The IG directed the field officers to expedite all cases of family claims and welfare lying pending in their respective districts so that the affectees could get relief against their claims.
