1,000 ex-cops for safe poll conduct in DG Khan

Dera Ghazi Khan, April 11: Retired policemen will be hired to make general election safe in Dera Ghazi Khan while rangers and army will also patrol the district on polling day to provide support to the police in case of any sabotage bid.
 
The newly-appointed District Police Officer Waqas Khan told Dawn that 1,000 retired policemen would be recruited for a week to ensure transparent and peaceful general elections in the district.
 
He said Punjab police had evolved a comprehensive security plan to provide a safe and secure atmosphere to voters and poll contestants.
 
The DPO said on election day rangers and army would give quick response to any emergency call by the administration.
