These special police squads are allowed to carry out raids anytime and anywhere in Lahore against brothels, gambling dens, and drug pushers. This initiative has been taken to track down the elements involved in social crimes.

Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains revealed this while addressing a meeting at the police headquarters Qila Gujjar Singh on Monday to review crimes situation in the Cantonment and Model Town police divisions.

“We will not feel hesitation in putting behind the bars the SHO (station house officer) of the area from where the special squads will unearth brothels, gambling dens or the network of narcotics dealers,” an official quoted the CCPO as telling the police officers during the meeting.

The police chief also directed the authorities to issue show-cause notices to at least 173 police officials for declaring several accused persons as proclaimed offenders without mentioning their addresses in the police record.
The CCPO also admonished the stations house officers and in-charge investigations of the Defense-A, Defense-B, and Hydyara police stations over rise in crimes ratio in the respective areas.

He also said that there was no space in Lahore police for the corrupt and incompetent cops. He further warned that the policemen failed to control crimes in their respective jurisdiction would not only be deprived of field postings in future but the department would also initiate disciplinary action against them.
