Citizens’ role against terrorism vital: CCPO

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains on Tuesday urged the citizens to come forward and extend help to police to curb terrorism, saying this war could be won only by forging unity and evolving consensus.
 
Addressing a gathering of people from various walks of life at Mochi Gate ground on Tuesday, the CCPO said mutual cooperation was of utmost importance to foil nefarious designs of anti-state elements and eradication of terrorism from the country.
 
Provincial assembly members and leaders of various political parties, including Liaqat Baloch (Jamaat-i-Islami), Khawaja Salman Rafiq (PML-N), Mian Aslam Iqbal (PTI) and Kiran Dar (PTI) also attended the event, besides Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal, DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, SSP Investigation Rana Ayaz Saleem,
 
CIA SP Muhammad Umar Virk and former additional IG Sheikh Israr Ahmad. A large number of lawyers and traders were also present.
 
The commissioner said the event was important with regard to taking citizens into confidence on the issue as their cooperation against terrorism was need of the hour.
 
Chief minister’s advisor on health Khawaja Salman Rafiq said the martyrdom of children in Peshawar had proved that terrorists had no religion and they were enemies of humanity.
 
Dr Haider Ashraf said cruelty of terrorists had united the whole nation against them.
