Families of slain cops honoured

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains has said the policemen are making every effort to foil nefarious designs of anti-state elements and protect the life and property of citizens.
 
He was speaking at a ceremony in the honour of Lahore police martyrs held at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines here on Sunday.
 
The CCPO said the ceremony was arranged to reiterate their pledge that they would not hesitate to shed the last drop of their blood to fight anti-state elements.
 
He said the martyrs had written a glorious chapter of courage and valor for establishing peace in the country and the entire nation was proud of their sacrifices.
 
The CCPO said that at least 270 policemen had embraced martyrdom.
 
He said the Lahore police had foiled all attempts of terror act by foreign agencies and anti-state elements during the visit of the Zimbabwean cricket team.
 
He said Inspector Abdul Majeed had thwarted an attempt of a suicide attacker and the match was continued without any interruption. The DCO said the way the Lahore police had given honour to the families of martyrs was an example to follow by others.
 
He said that such functions should be held regularly as the families of martyrs deserved to be honoured.
 
CIA SSP Muhammad Umar Virk, senior journalists and anchors also spoke. DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG (Investigation) Sultan Chaudhry, SSP (Investigation) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, SP (Headquarters), divisional SPs and journalists attended the function.
