Sadar CIA police claim to have arrested two criminals who were involved in the murder of a Lahore Gymkhana Club chief engineer, looting a member of the provincial assembly and encounters.
 
According to a handout issued on Friday, the criminals were nabbed by a team constituted by Investigation DIG Zulfiqar Hameed under the supervision of CIA SP Khalid Masood.
 
Police claimed that ringleader Afzal alias Amjad and accomplice Yasin alias Addi had shot dead Gymkhana Club Chief Engineer Muzaffar Awan in Islampura on Oct 23, 2012. They had also injured traffic warden Tanvir Ahmad in October 2012 and looted MPA Zamurd Yasin on Jan 22 this year. These two incidents also occurred in Islampura police limits.
 
CCPO Chaudhry Shafiq had ordered the police to take action against the criminals.
 
During interrogation the criminals confessed to 26 incidents of crime in Lahore and Sheikhupura district.
 
The police also recovered Rs100,000, illegal weapons and 24 cell phones from their possession.
 
The Investigation DIG announced commendatory certificates and cash rewards for the raiding team.
