Punjab Highway Patrol recovered a snatched car and arrested two accused after an encounter with them.
A traveller, Rai Jehangir of Khanewal, informed PHP that four unidentified armed persons had snatched two cars near a petrol pump in Faislaabad. PHP set up a roadblock and signaled to stop a car but the driver did not stop it. When the police start a chase, the car riders started firing on police team. The PHP team also opened fire and burst the tyre of the car and arrested Nadeem of Green Town, Lahore and M Akmal of Faisalabad. The car (4479/MNS), one pistol, 15 bullets, two mobile phones and Rs 10,000 in cash were seized from them.
Meanwhile, PHP in Faisalabad received a call on its helpline that five to six dacoits had blocked a road placing wood on it to commit robberies. PHP reached the spot and the dacoits start firing at PHP team. The police retaliated by firing and they escaped taking advantage of the darkness. PHP also arrested a proclaimed offender, Fida Hussain of Kot Mitthan, who was wanted by Kot Mitthan, Rajanpur, police. A man, Usman of Sialkot, wanted in a dacoity case, was arrested. One motorcycle (9938/GAL) was seized from him. PHP seized a gun from Sabtul Hassan, a pistol from M Imran, a pistol from Zahid, a rifle from M Nawaz and 40 bullets of pistol from M Zahid.
