RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has devised a special plan to avoid the traffic mess on the city roads, aimed at providing relief to the citizens, particularly during the last 15 days of Ramazan, said Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz.

He said that a comprehensive traffic plan has been devised in this regard which is being implemented in order to avert traffic jams, particularly in the commercial areas. Traffic squads have been deployed at all main intersections of the city whereas a help-line (1915) has also been set up at the Race Course Traffic Office. It would provide 24-hour help and assistance to the citizens.

The CTO said that all-out efforts are being made by the Rawalpindi Traffic Police to facilitate the road users so that they could reach their destination within the shortest time possible. He said that the duty timings of the traffic wardens have been increased, aimed at ensuring the smooth traffic flow on the city roads. In view of the security of the citizens, special steps have also been taken.

Parking of the vehicles near mosques, Imambargahs, and other religious places is not being allowed. Under the plan, the traffic police officers have been directed to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious vehicles. Strict action in accordance with the law has also been ordered against the vehicles having tinted glasses and without number plates, he added.
