LAHORE: Police claimed on Monday to have arrested 78 suspects for carrying illegal weapons and recovered a big cache of arms from their possession.
According to a news release, CCPO Amin Wains had ordered SSP Investigation Rana Ayaz Saleem to launch a crackdown on those possessing illegal arms.
The teams of police stations that carried out the operation were Naulakha, Lorry Adda, Ravi Road, Badami Bagh, Bhati Gate, Misri Shah, Gowalmandi, Mochi Gate, Shafiqabad, New Anarkali, Tibbi City, Data Darbar, Manawan, Defence-A, Defence-B, Hadiara, North Cantonment, Burki, Factory Area, Nawab Town and Township.
Police arrested 78 criminals and seized six Kalashmkovs, 47 rifles including 7MM, 12-bore, 244-bore, and bullets worth Rs. 5.8 million.
