19,000 cops to perform security duty today

LAHORE: In the wake of the PTI’s protest demonstrations, tight security arrangements will be put in place for the security of Lahorites on Monday (today).
 
As many as 19,000 police officers and officials will perform duty. Many places have been put under siege by the security forces by raising barricades.
 
Security personnel have been directed to keep a close watch on anti-social or anti-national elements and also to keep surveillance on any suspect if found around the venue. A comprehensive emergency plan has also been prepared to cope with any untoward incident in collaboration with Elite Police Force and Rescue 1122.
 
The policemen deployed at entry and exit points of the city have been directed to frisk each participant of the public gathering. Vehicles of Elite Police Force with commandoes will patrol the city to keep surveillance against law breakers. Contingents of police will be deployed in strength throughout the city, and authorities have also imposed traffic restrictions on many heavy-traffic roads as part of the security arrangements.
 
In order to maintain peace, huge contingent of police will remain present at various points including The Mall, Ferozpur Road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Multan Road and GT Road to avoid any untoward incident.
 
Metal detectors, dogs, mounted policemen, heavy contingent of women police and sharpshooters on rooftops will be deployed in the city.
 
Lahore police have arranged containers and barbed wires to cordon off the problematic areas.
