Six held for violating kite flying ban

LAHORE: Shahdara circle police arrested four people on charges of kite flying and two for making kites, confiscating 250 kites and twine from them here on Sunday.
 
Four suspects, identified as Usama, Shahzad, Aslam and Shaukat, were arrested for kite flying while Nazim and Yasir for making kites. Cases have been registered against all of them.
 
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said crackdown on the kite manufacturers and flyers would be intensified to avoid loss of life as many people had lost their life due to kite string in the past.
 
NAP: Police have conducted search and sweep operation under the National Action Plan (NAP), arrested 18 suspects and recovered 23 pistols, 15 rifles and more than 1,000 bullets from them.
 
According to a press release, police the suspects, who failed to prove their identification, were arrested from the railway station, bus stands and hotels.
 
Police also registered 24 cases for violating loudspeaker and rent act and some 44 drug peddlers were also arrested while 1kg heroin, 26kg hashish and 250 bottles of liquor were confiscated from them.
 
Police in an operation against gambling dens arrested 36 suspects and recovered cash, jewellery, mobile phones and wristwatches.
