Police claim nine gangs busted in two weeks

Police said on Sunday they had arrested 140 proclaimed offenders (POs), 160 people for possession of illegal weapons and 112 drug peddlers and busted nine robbers’ gangs in the last two weeks.
 
Operations SSP Sadiq Dogar said 42 of the arrested POs were wanted for heinous crimes in Faisalabad. He said 98 POs were wanted in other cases.
 
He said police had also arrested 38 members of nine gangs of robbers and recovered around Rs51.547 million in loot, including motorcycles, cars, gold jewellery, cash, mobile phones, cattle and weapons.
 
He said police had arrested 160 people for holding illicit weapons and recovered 113 pistols (0.30 bore), 22 guns (0.12 bore), 10 rifles, nine revolvers, five carbines and 360 bullets.
 
He said 112 drug peddlers were arrested with 15.387 kg hashish, 9.57 kg heroin and 887 bottles of liquor. Two unauthorised distilleries were sealed and 12 men were caught drunk.
 
Police also arrested 58 people for gambling and seized Rs85,000 from them.
