Gang busted; looted goods recovered

GUJRANWALA: The Cantonment police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested three members of a gang, including the ringleader, involved in about 100 incidents of dacoity, murder and robbery and recovered looted goods and arms from their possession.
 
At a press conference, Civil Lines Superintendent of Police (SP) Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui said the suspects identified as ringleader Safdar alias Sado, Imran and Usman were wanted by People’s Colony, Wahando, Kamoki, Aroop, Naushera Virkan, Satellite Town, Model Town, Cantonment, Sabzi Mandi and Saddar police stations in more than 100 incidents of dacoity, murder and robbery.
 
He said the gang had five members and two managed to escape when police raided their hideout in Wahando. He said the suspects stayed in rented houses for a few days and changed their locations from time to time.
 
He said five motorcycles, three pistols with several rounds and Rs200,000 in cash were recovered from their possession.
 
The SP said during interrogation the main suspect Safdar revealed his brother Nazir Ahmad had gunned down the owner of a bakery in Model Town during a robbery bid.
 
The chief minister had taken serious notice of the baker’s murder and directed the police to arrest the accused.
