Jun 18, 2014
LAHORE: The current situation of the country has multiplied responsibilities of the police department so the capacity building of the Punjab police will be done on modern lines.

Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera told the media just after assuming the charge of his office on Tuesday at CPO, Lahore, according to a handout.

He said the police was facing the challenges of terrorism, besides crime control and enforcement of law and order. He said crime fighters would be deputed to eliminate the organised crime. He said the force’s morale would be boosted and its independent identity restored.

Punjab Headquarters DIG Muhammad Tahir, AIG Admin and Security Sajjad Hassan Manj and other officers received the IGP. A smart contingent of the Punjab police presented the guard of honour to him.

Answering to the questions of the media, the IGP said that Punjab police would support the Pakistan Army in operation against terrorists while the security of the IGP Office would be managed by Punjab police. He said that honest, professional, dedicated and public friendly officers/officials would be encouraged so that the complaints of the oppressed and downtrodden people were redressed in time.
