Faisalabad: City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Haider Ashraf on Thursday inaugurated a new criminal record office (CRO) in the building of the Crime Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Talking to newsmen, Ashraf said the office would provide records of criminals round-the-clock through an online system. The CPO said photographs, thumb prints and case histories of criminals would be available to the public as well.

He said the new building was equipped with a computerized index of information of criminal records, stolen properties and missing persons.

He said information would be available for policemen all year.

The CPO said growth in population and the size of the city had led to increased crime. He said it was impor¬tant to have a basic infra¬structure to control growing crime.

“The new building and soft¬ware would help the Police Department become more efficient," he said.
He thanked the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association helping the police construct the building in four months.

The CPO said people's participation and cooperation was necessary for police to check crime in the city.
