Lahore: Capital City Police Officer Amin Wains has said that a comprehensive and effective crime-fighting policy has been adopted to curb street crime in the city and beat in-charge and constables under his control will play a key role in this regard.
He was addressing a meeting of Model Town Society and police officers and SHOs of Model Town division, on Thursday. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, SP Model Town Baqar Raza, SP Security Malik Liaqat, SHOs of the division, President Model Town Society and other members of the society were present on the occasion.
The CCPO said that like SHOs, beat incharge will be held accountable for crime in their beat and they will not only conduct patrolling on the pattern of Mujahid and Tiger Squad but will also set up pickets if needed.
Wains said that cooperation between police and citizens is of vital importance for rooting out crime therefore in addition to introducing beat system, safety committees at police station and beat level comprising notable of the respective areas are also being constituted so that full cooperation of civil society could be acquired for eradication of crime.
He said that police and the guards of Model town Society will conduct joint patrolling in the area so as to nab criminal elements. Model Town Society President Saifur Rehman lauded police-public partnership policy introduced by the CCPO and expressed the hope that it will yield positive result.
He announced provision of 15 motorcycles to police by Model Town Society and construction of kiosks at different points in the area. He said that it is responsibility of public to cooperate with police in controlling crime.
