GUJRANWALA, Sept 19: A minor boy, who was kidnapped for ransom by a couple some five days ago, was recovered on Wednesday.
SP (City) Muhammad Haroon Joya told reporters Javed Ahmad and his wife Shahida had kidnapped Sufian from a street in Khalid Town and demanded Rs l.2 million ransom for his release.
He said the victim family, on the direction of the police, engaged kidnappers in negotiations and finally agreed to pay a ransom of Rs300,000 to them at the place of their choice.
The SP said the police in civvies kept an eye on the movement and arrested the accused couple with the amount and later recovered Sufian from their possession.
The arrested couple confessed to have committed the crime to become rich overnight.
A case has been registered against the couple.
