‘Ulema should play role for peace during Muharram’

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Law, Excise, Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said ulema from all sects should play their due role for maintaining a peace during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
 
He said the holy month is sacred for all the Muslims so we should WORK for Ittehad Bainul Muslameen, especially during the Muharram-ul-Haram. He asked the members of peace committee and elected representatives to play their due role to maintain the atmosphere of love, unity and tolerance among different sections of the society during the Muharram-ul-Haram.
 
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting with the civil and police administration of Lahore division, according to a handout issued on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Rashid Mehmood Langarial, CCPO Amin Vence, DIG Dr. Haider Ashraf, DCOs, civil and police administrations besides other law enforcing agencies, members of peace committees, Members of National and Provincial Assembly and ulema.
 
Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman directed the divisional as well as district administrations to utilise all resources for maintaining the law and order as well as religious harmony, and law enforcing agencies should remain fully alert during the Muharram-ul-Haram.
 
He also directed to keep a continuous liaison with the local ulema and volunteers. He said the Punjab government had made the foolproof security arrangements for maintaining law and order during the Muharram-ul-Haram. He also ordered the uninterrupted electricity and water supply during the Majalis.
