Four gangs busted

Lahore: The Cantt Division police on Wednesday claimed arresting 17 members of four gangs involved in robberies, street crimes and motorbike snatching and recovered cash RS 4 million, 7 motorbikes, 16 tola gold ornaments and seven mobile phones from them.

This was claimed by DIG Operation Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar in a press conference at his office. The arrested gangs were identified as Zubair alias Zubari Gang, Amir Malik Gang, Ali alias Motta Gang and Nawaz Butt Gang. He said that 40 cases were traced out by these arrested accused. He said that Ali alias Motta Gang was involved in lifting motorbikes arrested by the Mustafabad police.

The arrested accused were identified as ringleader Ali alias Motta, Muhammad Tariq and Javed Masih, Answering a query, DIG said that weekly-off of Lahore police officials had been cancelled due to urgency of duties.

He said that crime rate in the City had increased due to upcoming Eid so extra police squads had been deployed in the markets to minimize the crimes. He said that extra police contingents would be deployed on the eve of Jummatul-Wida to avert any untoward incident.
