LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Aslam Tareen said on Monday that 11 modern check-posts set up on the entry and exit points of the City were being equipped with the latest digital surveillance system.

He stated this after inaugurating the digital surveillance system at Saggian Bridge and Sherakot check-posts. DIG (Operations) Rai Muhammad Tahir, SSP (Discipline and Inspection) Shariq Kamal and Sheikupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Malik Manzoor were also present on the occasion among others.

The CCPO said after the New and Old Ravi Bridge posts, the Saggian Bridge and Sherakot check-posts had been linked with the system, which would soon be installed at remaining posts too. “The system will help in effective monitoring of the entry and exit points of the City,” he added.

Tareen further said state-of-the-art CCTV cameras had been installed at these check-posts, which could be accessed by the CCPO and other police officers on their laptops for effective monitoring of the ground situation.

These posts have been provided a wireless link with the Central Control Room, enabling effective dispatch and receipt of important information, and follow up of crime control measures. Tareen concluded SIM locators had been provided to police and they would contribute to tracing criminals.

Also, Punjab Inspector General of Police Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman on Monday ordered transfers and postings of four senior police officers.

Rawalpindi Saddar Division Additional SP Israr Ahmed Khan has been posted as Punjab Special Branch SP against an existing post. DSP Waqar Ahmed has been posted as Kahna Circle SDPO; while DSP Abdul Ghani has been posted as Model Town Circle DSP. Model Town Circle DSP Syed Azaz Hussain has been transferred and posted as Raiwind Security Division XI DSP.
