Strict security for minorities worship places ordered

Rawalpindi: Commissioner (Rawalpindi) Khalid Masud Chaudhry Tuesday directed the concerned authorities to take stringent steps for security of churches of Christian community and worship places of other minorities.

Presiding over a meeting of the divisional law and order committee held in his office, Khalid Masud instructed that security should be beefed up so that incidents  like the one in Peshawar could not be repeated. He said that security and safety of minorities and their worship places should be ensured at every cost.

In this regard, the commissioner said that training sessions should be planned to train private security guards of worship places and CCTV cameras should be installed at these places.

The meeting was attended by Acting RPO Bilal Siddique Kamiana, DCOs of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal, Sajid Zafar, Iqbal Hussain, Mirza Mehmud ul Hassan and Yawar Hussain. DPOs of all districts of the division, SP CID Raja Muhammad Basharat and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.

The commissioner directed the concerned officials that the operation against extortion and vehicle-lifting should be accelerated and people involved in these crimes must be nabbed.

The contractors of car parking lots, especially those in commercial centres, must be taken on board and alerted. He said that 1.800 vehicles were stolen from January 2013 to September 2013. This was alarming, he expressed concern
He directed the DCOs to accelerate the campaign against gas and power theft and people involved in theft, especially in commercial centers, should be booked. He directed DPOs to monitor the operation against beggars started by police.

The commissioner ordered police to make foolproof security arrangements for Ismaili Jammat Khana at Chandni Chowk, Rawalpindi, to avoid any untoward incident.
