SAHIWAL: Police arrested a man on Tuesday for killing the minor son of his farm labourer in village 12/11-L late on Monday.
Chichawatni Saddar police arrested Shahbaz Gujjar who confessed that he had killed five-year-old Shah Nawaz, the son of his labourer Haq Nawaz.
Investigation officer Ghulam Farid told Dawn that Shahbaz said he had killed the minor boy to set up a murder case against his rival, Abdul Sattar.
On Sunday, Shahbaz and Sattar’s son Abdul Jabbar exchanged words over the water issue.
Hameed, of the village, said Jabbar had also beaten Shah Nawaz for letting the cattle into their fields. Shahbaz also exchanged words with Jabbar over the issue.
Shah Nawaz also went missing on Sunday evening. Haq Nawaz with other villagers made a thorough search but failed to find the boy. On Monday, one of the villagers spotted boy’s body in a tubewell’s well. Rescue 1122 officials took out the body.
Police interrogated Sattar and Jabbar as main suspects and later on involved Shahbaz in interrogation who confessed to killing the child to implicate Sattar and Jabbar in the murder case.
