Kidnappers caught in Lahore

LAHORE - The CIA Iqbal Town police on Wednesday claimed to have smashed a gang of kidnappers by arresting its three members including the ringleader during a successful operation. Police said that the criminals were also wanted to the police in several cases of armed robberies.
 
During preliminary investigation, the gangsters confessed to the police that they had abducted a man, Waleed Irshad, from Green town Area in the recent past and received Rs200000 as ransom from his family.
 
The police identified the criminals as Jameel, alias Lada, Munir Ahmed, and Muhammad Afzal.
 
The police have also recovered six laptops, two motorcycles and several mobile phones and SIMs from their possession.
 
A police spokesperson said that on the directions of Lahore CCPO Chaudhry Shafique Ahmed, SP CIA Muhammad Omar Virk constituted a special team headed by DSP Riaz Shah which collected particulars of the gangs and arrested its three members during a successful raid in Lahore.
 
The arrested criminals also confessed to the police that they had committed armed robberies in the Muslim Town, Green Town, Sabzazar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Wahdat Colony police limits as well. Further investigation is underway.
