FAISALABAD. April 26: Jhang Bazaar police took into custody over a dozen suspects on Friday during a search and sweep operation in a Pashtun locality in Rasheedabad.

The operation was launched on the direction of the police high-ups who feared that any miscreant could take refuge in the locality to carry out terror activity during the general election.

Led by Kotwali Circle DSP Khalid Waseem, the police sealed the locality and did not allow anyone to go out or enter it. The lady police also assisted in the house-to-house search.

A police officer, who was also part of the operation, told Dawn that more than one dozen suspects were taken into custody and their credentials were being verified. He said a few of them were Afghans.

He said the action would be taken against the people living in Pakistan illegally. However, he said no terrorism-related material was found during the operation.
