Security plan for city

LAHORE: CCPO Ch Shafiq Ahmad has said that about 15,000 police officers and officials will perform security duty during Muharram-ul-Haram to provide security to more than 5,000 Majalis and about 600 mourning processions in the city.

He said that sectarian harmony was need of the hour to foil the nefarious designs of terrorist and anti-social elements. He asked ulema to play their major role to maintain sectarian harmony.

He said this while addressing a meeting of District Peace Committee at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines. Ch Shafiq Ahmed requested the management of Majalis and processions to use one entry and one exit point at Majalis and Imambargas.

The CCPO said that strict action would be taken against the publication of hate material and anyone found involved in such activity would be dealt with an iron hand.

He also said ulema and Zakreen should refrain from delivering speeches containing hate material.

He said that strict legal action would be taken against violators of ban on use of loudspeaker.

Besides the police officers concerned, the meeting was attended by Haider Ali Mirza, Mushtaq Hussain Jafri, Peer Usman Noori, Javed Akbar Saki, Mufti Masood ur Rehman, Peer Faisal Gilani, Bashir Ahmed Nizami, Shah Hussain Qazlebash, Khuja Bashrat Husain, Mufti Ali Mehndi, Kazim Raza Naqvi, Allama Asad Ubaid, Hafiz Shah Hussain, Muhammad Ali Bukhari, Sahibzada Saeed u Rehman, Mujeeb u Rehman Inqlabi, Sheikh Akmal, Shakeel u Rehman Nasir, Muhammad Ali Shamsi, Bashir Salfi, Dr Monhar Chand, Bhagat Lal, Sardar Bishan Singh and Sardar Amrik Singh.
