Rs3.5m State medicines recovered, 12 arrested

LAHORE–The Special Drug Squad, headed by DIG Maj Mubashar Ullah, has recovered stolen government medicines worth Rs 3.5 million from various private hospitals and medical stores and arrested 12 persons including a ward boy of Services Hospital. Cases have been registered against the accused and investigation has been started.

According to details, government medicines worth Rs 2 million were seized from a house at Ittefaq Pura in Badami Bagh area from where Syed Abbas Ali Shah and Syed Ilyas Ali Shah have been arrested. Similarly, government medicine worth Rs 1 million was recovered from the godown of Messers SB Enterprises in Lohari Gate and Muhammad Shahid, Sherbaz Khan, Mirza Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Usman have been apprehended and a case has been registered.

Similarly, government medicine worth Rs 0.2 million has been seized from Messers Iqbal Medical Store outside Jinnah Hospital and Ehsaan Ullah Khan has been arrested.

The same squad while conducting operation against pharmacies of private hospitals recovered government medicine worth Rs 0.1 million from the pharmacy of Shama Hospital, Bagh Munshi Ladha and started investigation. Abid Hussain, Syed Aslam Ali Shah and Ghulam Rasool have been arrested while medicine stolen from government hospitals worth Rs 92000 has been seized from Jamil Hospital, Allama Iqbal Road Garhishahu and Mirza Muhammad Imran has been arrested. Similarly, stolen medicine worth Rs 25000 has been recovered from Ghulam Qadir of Messers Jamil Surgical Hospital Bhatti Gate and investigation has been initiated.
