Awards for heirs to martyrs

LAHORE–The heirs to martyred army men, police officers and law-enforcement agencies’ personnel pledged to serve Pakistan with zeal even at the cost of their blood. The bereaved families, mostly youth, expressed these views at a ceremony titled “Rangeela Memorial Award 2011 for Heroes and Martyrs” organized by the Rangeela Foundation at Alhamra Hall on Wednesday.

SSP (Operations)Sarfaraz Falki represented the Provincial Police Chief whereas a Provincial Minister Kamran Nadeem participated as special guest on behalf of the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The family members of the martyred cops, who were slain by the terrorists during Mehran Base attack in Karachi, suicidal attack on a mosque in Cantonment of Islamabad, and others participated in this ceremony. A retired soldier with both legs missing also spoke on this occasion and said as, “That was noble moment of his life when he lost his legs.”

He said he was proud to be a Pakistani, who rendered his legs for the security of his beloved homeland. Furthermore, a young police constable namely Qaisar Riaz, son of a martyred police officer Muhammad Riaz, said that he was proud to be the son of a martyred police officer. “I cannot express my feelings that how much the senior police officers give me respect, considering me a son of a brave officer. I also wish to be martyred in the line of duty and serve the country,” Qaisar said.
