Kidnappers of child held

LAHORE, Nov 5: The CIA police arrested three accused involved in kidnapping of a four-year-old boy and recovered the jewellery received as ransom.

One of the accused is a close relative of child Ibad Ali.

According to a press release, Ali was playing in front of his house on Ibrahim Road in Lower Mall area on Nov 2 when he was kidnapped. The accused telephoned his father, Naeem, and demanded a ransom of Rs1.5 million and threatened him with dire consequences.

Taking immediate notice of the incident, CCPO Chaudhry Shafique directed DIG (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed and CIA SP Umar Virk to arrest the culprits.

Virk constituted a team under the supervision of Tariq Ilyas Kayani, the in-charge of the cell against kidnap for ransom. The team gathered information from locals and checked phone record.

They also interrogated relatives of the boy and found one of them, Ali Raza, suspicious. On interrogation, he confessed that he knew Ali’s father was rich as he worked in Saudi Arabia. He said he really needed money, and therefore, planned to kidnap the boy with the help of his two accomplices, Rehman Mustafa and Waqar Masih.

He said after kidnapping the child, they took him to Masih’s house in Sherakot and intoxicated him. Then they telephoned his father and demanded ransom.

The culprits released the child after taking jewellery equal to the ransom amount. The police team arrested Mustafa and Masih and recovered the jewellery and the mobile phone used in the crime.

The DIG (investigation) announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the team that arrested the culprits.
