207 suspects arrested in two months

LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested 207 suspects under National Action Plan (NAP), recovered looted items worth Rs50 million and a large number of illegal weapons.
 
According to a release, SSP (Investigation) Umar Riaz Cheema said under the NAP 207 members of 82 gangs involved in robbery, theft and murder cases were arrested from different areas of the city during the last two months.
 
The gangs busted have been identified as Masood alias Suda, Nadeem alias Demi, Ali alias Meru, Nazir alias Kali, Imran alias Mana, Javed alias Jadi, Nawaz alias Mola, Saleem Patan, Waseem alias Jagu, Ilyas alias Tinda, Shabir alias Gora, Kashif alias Kashi and Khuram alias Agha gang.
 
The gangs were involved in more than 537 cases of heinous nature while stolen and looted items recovered from their possession included cash, cars, motorcycles, auto rickshaws, mobile phones, gold ornaments and other valuables.
 
The SSP said all investigation in-charges were directed to break the network of dacoits and thief gangs especially those involved in car and motorcycle cases.
 
He said teams of anti-car lifting staff were keeping a watchful eye on entry and exit points of the city.
