Inter-district auto-lifters’ gang smashed

LAHORE – The Anti-vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) of the Civil Lines Police Division (CLPD) on Sunday claimed to have smashed an inter-district gang of auto-lifters by arresting its three members including the ringleader. 
 
The arrested bandits have confessed to their involvement in 25 auto-lifting incidents. The police have recovered six cars worth five million rupees from their possessions. 
 
Police said that SP Syed Jamaat Ali Bokhari gave special task to DSP Tariq Mahmood Sukhera to unearth the gangs involved in auto-lifting. The AVLS DSP constituted a special team headed by Sub Inspector Sajid Noor which collected particulars of the gangsters and arrested the bandits during raids in various parts of the province. 
 
Police identified the auto-lifters as Malik Muhammad Zubair the ringleader of the gang and Ravi Road resident and his accomplices Abdul Qayyum from vehari and Muhammad Razzaq resident of Bahawalpur district. 
 
The police have recovered six vehicles including three stolen cars from them. The police have also traced 22 cases of stolen vehicles against the arrested bandits. 
 
The auto-lifters later used to sell the stolen cars to Lala Toor and Zafar Khan in the northwest region of the country. Further investigations are underway. 
 
DIG (Investigations) Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police team.
