Bahawalpur, April 3: The district police on Wednesday claimed to have busted an inter-district gang of robbers and arrested four of its members, while search for seven adsconders was underway.
The arrested included Hasan Ali and Amman Tariq from Satellite Town, Kashif Meraj of Ahmedpur East, and Qari Saad of Bahawalpur.
DPO Sohail Habib Tajik told the media the absconders included three from Satellite Town, including Adnan Qayyum, Ziaur Rehman and Jahanzeb Agha. The rest were Muhammad Zahid, Waqas Ahmed Abbasi, Haji Shahid and Khalid, The gang was reportedly involved in over 62 incidents of robbery in the Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Khanewal and Lodhran districts.
Cash worth hundreds of thousands of rupees and other looted items, including jewellery, laptops and mobile phones worth millions were also recovered from the arrested.
The men also confessed to robberies in several government and private offices, including Auqaf department and the Rescue 1122 office at Fauji Basti.
