Thousands of policemen deployed for security

LAHORE: Security on Pakistan Day remained on high alert in the city on Monday as more than ten thousand city police and traffic police officials performed their security duties to facilitate the citizens especially at main boulevard Gulberg festival.
 
CCPO Captain (R) Amin Wains, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, CTO Tayyab Hafeez Cheema and other police officers visited the several areas of the city to check the security arrangements especially monitored the security and traffic measures at main boulevard festival. Thousands of security men armed with sophisticated weapons were deployed in the provincial metropolis to prevent any possible militant strike on Pakistan Day.
 
The security men had set up barricades at sensitive places and were keeping a close watch on the movement of people. All the CCTVs cameras installed different important roads and areas were activated and police officials in control room were watching the live footage to keep a watch on suspects.
 
A number of police personnel including Elite police, ladies police, special branch personnel and volunteers were deployed at different activities held in the city in connection of Pakistan Day. The parking lots for main boulevard festival (Azma Pakistan Day 2015) were set up at a safer distance. Whereas metal detectors, walkthrough gates and manual checking were also used to scan the people, entering the main boulevard festival. The citizens were allowed to enter in festival venue after passing through the stages of security.
 
Meanwhile, control rooms were also set up by the city police and the law enforcement agencies to ensure the security and safety of the citizens. Bomb Disposal Squad, Rescue-1122, and other rescue teams remained on high alert till the end of the main festival.
 
City police blocked the main boulevard at main market towards Liberty Chowk with barricards, tentsa nd other different hurdles for security. Police also set up walk through gates for male and female citizens where the allowed after complete checking. The numbers of youth groups also seemed to enjoying this activity. Police also closed the adjacent roads of the festival venue for security purpose and allowed the citizens to enter the festival area at main route.
 
CCPO and DIG Operations said that police remained high alert whole day in the city especially at main boulevard festival where police provided best security, peaceful and secure environment among the citizens to fully enjoy and celebrate on Pakistan Day.
 
CTO said that a number of traffic officers and officials deputed across the capital metropolis on Pakistan Day. He said that special squads also deputed on important roads including Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road, Ferozpur Road, Gulberg Main Bolavard, Township, Shalamr Link Road, GT Road Baghbanpura, Wahdat Road and especially Ring Road to maintain traffic flow.
 
He said that traffic police and Punjab police high ups have strictly directed to all officers and officials to kept an eye on anti state elements especially on dispersal time in order to avoid rush and any untoward incident.
