182 POs held, 7 gangs busted

AHMEDPUR EAST - On the special instruction of Bahwalpur RPO, DSP Circle Police Rana Naveed Mumtaz launched a grand operation against anti-social elements and arrested 182 proclaimed offenders in raids during the last two months and smashed seven inter-district gangs of robbers here.

During a press conference in his office, the DSP informed the media persons that such surprise operations would continue in a future until elimination of crime.

He further informed that seven police stations of the Circle Police apprehended 43 A-class and 139 B-class proclaimed offenders during the crack down.

He informed that under the directions of the Punjab inspector general police, a target of arresting 70 POs was given to the Police out of which 15 have been nabbed so far.

To a question, he stated that the City Police, Uch Sharif Police and Dhorkot Police smashed each two gangs of dacoits and thieves while Naushera Jadid Police arrested one suspected person.

Highlighting the police performance, Mumtaz said that Circle Police had registered 51 cases under Arms Act and 41 cases under Anti-Narcotics act during period.

He asserted that the prime duty of the police was to provide security and safeguard the life and property of people.
