Inter-dist gangs of dacoits busted

GUJRAT, March23: Police busted four inter-district gangs of robbers which were involved in committing more than 30 robberies in four districts and recovered looted goods and weapons from them on Friday.

District Police Officers Rana Shahid Pervaiz told reporters the Kalu gang had confessed to committing 22 robberies in Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura and Lahore district. He said the gang members had shot dead patwari Imran Shaukat and injured his brother, Salman (Lawyer), at the hardware shop of their father near Shadman Colony some three weeks ago.

The DPO said members of the sunny gangs, Liaquat alias Bhadar gang and Arsalan alias Shani gang were also arrested. He said these gangsters were involved in dozens of thefts and dacoities in the Gujrat district.

He said the police force had also arrested two outlaws Kaleem Asghar with a head money of Rs1 million and Shakeel Ahmed alias Babbu with a head money of Rs100,000. He said both the outlaws were involved in murder, theft and attempt to murder and other heinous crimes.

Meanwhile, the Gujrat police held a seminar at the Police Lines in connection with the Pakistan Day to pay homage to the sacrifices of the police martyrs.

DPO Rana Shahid, Jammat-i-Islami district secretary-general Dr Tariq Salim and Anjuman Tajran President Javed Butt spoke on the occasion.
