16,000 liter oil recovered

LAHORE-Punjab Highway Patrol claimed to have recovered 16,000 liter crude oil worth over Rs 1.5 million and also arrested two dacoits on Wednesday.

PHP post Hattar, Attock received information about a stolen oil tanker (Z-Peshawar-1568). The PHP team held a picket near Bhal Syeddan link road and intercepted the said oil tanker and recovered 16,000 liter crud oil worth Rs 1.5 million. While, the PHP team Sodhra, Gujranwala apprehended two dacoits namely Nazir Hussain and Malazam Hussan of Tahliwala, Muzaffargarh.

24 gangs smashed during  January: Investigations police on Wednesday claimed that they smashed 24 gangs of robbers by arresting their 90 members during the month of January.

According to a police spokesman, the police also recovered looted or stolen valuables worth million of rupees from their possession.

The police said the investigators traced no less than 16 cases of murder, three of kidnapping for ransom and another of robbery-cum-murder during last month. They further claimed the investigators also recovered 154 cars and 91 motorcycles during the month of January. The police last month also arrested more than 2,000 Proclaimed Offenders during its crackdown.

33,122 people rescued: Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer carried out a performance review of Rescue-1122 in all districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the Service.

The DG emphasised on districts in-charges that increasing numbers of emergency could be reduced through effective community participation. Community Emergency Response Teams could play vital role for remedial measures against emergencies and could ultimate lead towards development of safer communities, he added.

The data revealed that the Service rescued over 33,122 victims of emergencies while carrying out 33,385 rescue operations during the month of January in 36 cities of Punjab, while maintaining its average response time of seven minutes.
