SHOs directed to ensure foolproof security during Ramazan

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains said every station house officer (SHO) should devise a plan to ensure foolproof security to citizens during Ramazan.

He was presiding over a security review meeting at his office on Tuesday. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, Crimes Investigation Agency SSP Umar Virk and all SHOs and investigations in-charge were present.

The CCPO said Police Response Unit (PRU), Dolphin Force and Tiger Squad patrolling should be increased in areas where banks and commercial centres were situated. He also directed SHOs to check and ensure security arrangements of all commercial markets, religious places and banks in their respective areas.

He further said intelligence-based patrolling should be carried out for safety of citizens and policemen be deployed in plainclothes to keep an eye on people. They should also remain alert to avert nefarious designs of anti-state elements, he added.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Haider Ashraf visited mosques, imambargahs and Ramazan bazaars to check security.

While talking to the media, he said more than 10,000 policemen were deployed in and around worship places across the city to provide security. He also directed policemen to ensure that no one entered the religious places without proper checking.

The DIG said all divisional superintendents of police had been directed to visit and ensure security in their respective areas during Sehr, Iftar and in Ramzan bazaars.

He also visited the Badami Bagh vegetable market and directed policemen to remain alert to avert any law and order situation.
