LAHORE: Punjab Police have chalked out a strategy to provide security on Independence Day on August 14, control one-wheeling and rescue run-away children.

The plan was made at a meeting chaired by IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera at Central Police Office on Thursday. Regional and district police officers attended the meeting via video link.

The participants decided that no private or official celebrations would be allowed on August 14 without approval of district intelligence committees consisting of DCOs, DPOs and representatives of intelligence agencies.

Important buildings, banks, business centres, public parks, highways, railway stations and bus terminals will be divided into three security categories A+, A and B.

The meeting reviewed progress on the ongoing crackdown on one-wheelers across the province. The IGP ordered stringent action against the mechanics involved in modifying motorcycles for wheelies. The meeting decided that motorcycles of those doing wheelies would be impounded.

Sukhera directed constitution of teams across the province to rescue run-away children and reuniting them with their families. The teams will monitor railway stations, bus stands, shrines and hotels.
