Police directed to ensure campuses security

LAHORE - In order to review security on campuses and implementation of the evolved strategy in this regard on re-opening of schools after summer vacation a video linked RPO conference was held at Central Police Office, here under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.

All RPOs and DPOs attended the conference through a video link whereas, Additional IGP Operations / Investigation Punjab, Capt (R) Arif Nawaz, DIG Operations Punjab, Amir Zulfiqar and other senior police officers were also present.

It was decided that all RPOs and DPOs would ensure that the SDPOs and SHOs would not only remain in close liaison with the school administration and teachers but would also visit these schools particularly during their on and off timings, on daily basis.

All officers were directed to ensure that the security SOPs designed for the schools must be implemented so that the confidence and trust of the children and their parents could be restored.

The conference also decided that the patrolling and monitoring, including snap checking would be the regular feature of the police and specially the quick response force would remain in their beats around the schools.

Mushtaq Sukhera directed the police officers to remain in constant liaison with parents, teachers and all stakeholders of society so that environment of scarcity could be eliminated and children could attend their schools without any fear.

Funds: With a view to providing healthy environment to the under-training fighting force at all police training school and colleges of Punjab, including all basic amenities i.e. quality residence, better food, clean water, gym for fitness, besides supervision of their welfare are the main priorities of police department and this is the reason that maximum funds have been allocated for all police training schools for the purpose.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while addressing a meeting held at Central Police Office, here Monday.

Additional IGP Welfare and Finance Sohail Khan, DIG Training Saad Akhter Bharwana, Commandant Police Training College Chuhng, Fiaz Ahmad Dev, Commandant Police Training College, Sihala, Principal Police Training School Rawat Rawalpindi, Dar Ali Khan Khattak, Principal Police Training School Sargodha, Mumtaz Ahmad Dev, Principal Police Training School Farooqabad, Usman Akram Gondal, Principal Police Training School, Multan Maqsood Ahmad Khichi, Principal Intelligence Training School, Miss Nasreen Akhter and other senior police officers of CPO also attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed in detail the funds which were allocated for the year 2016-17 against the development schemes of all training schools.  

On this occasion, IGP was briefed that Police College, Sihala was allocated Rs14.33 million, Police Training College Chuhng, Lahore Rs10.14 million, Police Training School Farooqabad Rs0.99 million, Police Training School, Multan Rs3.55 million, Police Training School, Sargodha, Rs4.329 million whereas Rs6.3164 million have been allocated to Police Training School, Rawalpindi.

IGP also reviewed the progress towards the construction of quarters, hostels, mess, crime scene rooms, filtration plants, washrooms, swimming pools, tennis courts, barber shops, besides, the provision of latest equipment, particularly, fingerprint kits, computers, mega phones, metal detectors, steal barriers, anti-riot jackets, bio-metric attendance machine, barbed wires, search lights, emergency alarms, CCTV cameras and procurement of other investigation gadgets for these training centres.

The meeting also reviewed thoroughly the progress of the on-going training courses. IGP was told that at present 8,149 officers / officials are getting training in these centres of various courses, including SPU, Probationers ASI / SIs, Homicide Investigation, Dolphin Squad, Recruit and PRU Force which will be completed by the end of 2017.
