Steps to improve police performance reviewed

Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera on Tuesday chaired a meeting with agenda to improve the services being provided by the Punjab police.

Different steps to expedite the process of justice system and improve performance of police were reviewed at the meeting held at Central Police Office, Lahore.

Welfare and Finance Additional IGP Sohail Khan, Punjab Additional IGP Operations/ Investigations  Arif Nawaz, Punjab DIG Operations Amir Zulfiqar, DIG Headquarters B A Nasir,  Lahore DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf and other senior police officers of the CPO also attended the meeting. Lahore DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf briefed the IGP on a model of police stations designed by him having all latest facilities. The IGP directed the police officers to adopt all positive steps in this regard by ensuring provision of quality food to the force at the police lines. He said that proposal for provision of quality food to the force at subsidised rates was also under consideration.

Mushtaq Sukhera directed the officers that 8787 service which was launched by Punjab police for redress of public complaints could be used as central service with a view to providing justice to the complainants. The provincial police officer  (PPO) also reviewed the computerisation of Criminal Record Management System (CRMIS) of Punjab Police. While briefing the IGP, Lahore CRO SP Nadeem Abbas said that through mega matcher machine which was recently purchased for fingerprints record management, 100,000 fingerprints of the hardened criminals had been incorporated in fingerprint matching system, while the fingerprints of rest of 125,000 would be the part of this system very shortly. He said that the process of computerisation of manual record of all police stations of Punjab was also under process.

The meeting also reviewed the preparation of software of legal department for maximum utilisation of information technology for the justice system process and formalities.  AIG Legal Ahsan Younas told the IGP that this software would  be completed very soon which would have the subject-wise apps of pending cases, the decisions and directions of the honourable courts, progress and record of all writ petitions.
