LAHORE - Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has directed establishment of a full-fledged welfare branch at the district level supervised by an officer of the rank of sub-inspector who will directly report to the DPO.

Inspector General Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera stated this while chairing a joint meeting of Welfare and Finance, Special Protection Unit, IT, Operations and Development wings held at Central Police Office on Wednesday.

He said that the in charge welfare branch would forward cases of the district police officials to Central Police Office without any delay so that welfare funds could be transferred to the police officials concerned. He said that the welfare funds should be transferred directly to the bank accounts of police officials instead of issuing cheque in the name of DPO so that they could get the funds without any difficulty and delay.

The IGP directed the DIG Welfare to ensure monitoring of welfare branches at the district level along with keep a close contact with RPOs and DPOs to prevent any delay in police officials' welfare cases.

The IGP directed the officer concerned to allow weekly rest and two leaves per month to the SPU officials. He also said that the visit of DSP on daily basis to project check posts should be ensured and on-duty officials, their weapons and bullet-proof jackets should be inspected along with briefing on their duty.

Directing the PC commandant, the IGP said that construction of boundary wall of Police Training Center, Matti Tal, Multan, should be completed soon and close circuit cameras and search lights be installed immediately. Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera also directed the PC commandant to ensure biometric attendance of the officials and put in place an effective system for its monitoring.

The IGP directed the additional IGP Welfare and Finance to complete the project of trackers installation in police vehicles on priority and to establish a dashboard in CPO’s control room by centralising monitoring mechanism within two weeks.
