First IGP Punjab Gold Cup Volleyball Tournament being organized by Sports Board Punjab Police

Sports competitions are much important for betterment of physical health and intellectual capacity. Extracurricular activities, games and competitions are main source to promote healthy competitive environment and to prepare a strong and responsible youth for future. Promotion of healthy activities, especially sports, in the province and encouragement of the players is the foremost priority of the Punjab government. First IGP Punjab Gold Cup Volleyball Tournament being organized by Sports Board Punjab Police is one of the events of this series. This was stated by Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Jahangir Khanzada during addressing opening ceremony of the tournament at WAPDA Sports Complex, Lahore. Director General Sports Board Punjab Police, Additional IG Operations Punjab Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, DIG Operations Punjab, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan and representatives of federation were also present on this occasion.
First match of the tournament was played between volleyball teams of Punjab Police and Punjab Province, which was won by Punjab Police. Teams of Punjab Police, Army, Navy, PAF, WAPDA and provincial teams of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir team are participating in five days IGP Punjab Gold Cup Volleyball Tournament. Teams are divided into Pool A and Pool B. Teams of WAPDA, Army and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are part of Pool A while Navy, Punjab Police, Punjab Province and Azad Jammu and Kashmir teams are in Pool B.
All teams will play three matches each in first three days of the tournament, four winning teams of which will compete in semi finals on fourth day. Final of the tournament and match for third position will be played onSunday March 12.   
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera will distribute prizes among winner, runner-up and third position teams on last day of the event.
