LAHORE: Pakistan Army, Navy and Police forged ahead by winning their matches on the second day of the inaugural IG Punjab Gold Cup Volleyball Tournament at the WAPDA Sports Complex on Thursday.

While Army needed fourth sets to overpower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, Navy and Police won in straight sets.

Navy trounced Punjab 25-9, 25-16, 25-18 and Police brushed aside Azad Jammu and Kashmir 25-15, 25-15, 25-10.

After taking Army close in the first two sets, KP stunned them by winning the third but despite a solid performance by Bilal and Faraz, they were undone in the fourth set with Fakhar and Zaheer starring for the winners with powerful serves.

Inaccurate serves and poor blocking contributed to Punjab’s demise against Navy while in the final match of the day, Police cruised past Azad Kashmir with ease.
