Sports competitions are important to improve physical health and intellectual capacity of force

The Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has said that sports events under Sports Board Punjab Police will continue in future as well because sports competitions are important to improve physical health and intellectual capacity of force. He said that when Government of Punjab decided to organize Pakistan Super League Final in Lahore the public was overwhelmed, on the other hand due to terrorists' threats there was possibility of any untoward incident but Punjab Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, not only foiled terrorists plans by organizing PSL final in peaceful environment but also made way for international cricket in Pakistan in future. IGP stated this at closing ceremony of first IGP Punjab volleyball Gold Cup Tournament held at WAPDA Sports Complex, Lahore today.

The final match of the tournament was played between teams of Pakistan Army and WAPDA, which was won by WAPDA after a close competition. Pakistan Navy team got 3rd position in the tournament. IGP awarded 75,000 Rupees cash prize and trophy to winning team, 50,000 Rupees cash prize and cup to runner-up Pakistan Army team and 30,000 Rupees cash prize to 3rd position holder Pakistan Navy team. Medals were also awarded to players of all three teams.

First IGP Punjab volleyball Gold cup tournament organized by Sports Board Punjab Police was started on March 08 in which interesting competitions were witnessed during five days between teams of Punjab Police, Army, WAPDA, Navy, PAF, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and provincial teams of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Murad Jahan of winning team WAPDA was declared best player of the tournament. Souvenirs were presented to the best performing players in different segments of the game, best judges and referees of the tournament in closing ceremony. On organizing successful Volleyball Gold Cup event, IGP presented shield to the Director General Sports Board Punjab Police, Additional IG Operations Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz.

                               
While talking to media during closing ceremony, IGP said that Rangers are conducting intelligence based operations in collaboration with Punjab Police in border districts of Punjab. These operations are yielding positive results. He also said that security agencies often issue terrorism threat alerts but overall law and order situation in the province is under control. Gradual decrease in terrorism incidents is recorded since 2014, IGP added.
