Suspected militant arrested

BAHAWALPUR: The Counter Terrorism Department claimed on Thursday to have arrested a militant who was planning an attack on sensitive installations here and recovered explosives and allied material from him.

According to a spokesman, on a tip-off that some militants were out to target some installations in the city, a team conducted a raid near CTD post on Jhagniwali road and arrested Muhammad Amin, a resident of Khushab.

He said the suspect belonged to banned militant outfit Al Qaeda.

The raiding party recovered a suicide vest, two kilo explosives, four detonators, one safety fuse, ball bearings, electric wire and switches from the suspect’s possession.
The suspect was shifted to an undisclosed place for further interrogation and a case against him was registered by CTD.
